Table Mountain Star Party
The 20th annual Table Mountain Star Party will be held July 27, 28, and 29 on Table Mountain, 20 miles from Ellensburg. Bring your telescope, or if you don't have one, most astronomers are happy to share theirs. The star party includes speakers, workshops, seminars, a swap meet, door prizes, a young astronomer program, and much more. Watch your mail for registration information or visit

Oregon Star Party
The annual Oregon Star Party will be held August 31 to September 3, 2000, one hour east of Prineville, Oregon, in Crook County in the Ochoco National Forest. The star party is held on the 5,000-foot Indian Spring Prairie, which has a panoramic horizon, excellent sky transparency, steady air, and almost zero light glow. For more information, see

Camp Long Summer Astronomy Programs
Camp Long is a 68-acre park in West Seattle that offers nature programs for visitors of all ages. Call 206-684-7434 for more information. Here's a listing of the camps astronomy programs and night hikes:

- Solstice Full Moon Hike: Moonlight splashes through the treetops as owls fly overhead. June 16, 9 p.m. $5 per person.

- Stars & Stripes Stellar Spectroscopy: Learn how a woman astronomer decoded starlight and discover how to make the stars show their true colors. July 1, 9 p.m.-overnight. $15 per person, $50 family of four. Includes cabin, breakfast.

- Full Moon in the Forest: Evening stroll with a naturalist through moonlit forest and meadows. Watch for foxes, owls and flying squirrels. July 14, 8 p.m.-overnight. $15 per person, $50 family of four. Includes cabin, breakfast.

- Saturday Nite at the Lodge: Watch beavers become active at twilight in their "lodge." July 22, Meet at Lakewood Moorage. $5 per person.

- All Night Star Party: Spend a starry night learning about the heavens. Astronomers from Captain's Nautical will share their telescopes and knowledge. August 4, 8 p.m.-overnight. $15 per person, $50 family of four. Includes cabin, breakfast.
