THE annual SAS Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday, January 13 at the Yankee Grill and Roaster in Ballard.

John Armstrong, PhD candidate student at the University of Washington Astronomy Department and member of the first class of academically trained astrobiologists, will be our speaker. His talk is titled "Planets around other stars—what we've learned from the first 50."

"I received my undergraduate degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Iowa in 1998," said John. "In addition to pursuits in astronomy, I am working with collaborators at the Astronomy and Atmospheric Sciences departments of the University of Washington and the NASA-Ames Mars Atmospheric Modeling Group to better understand the past and present climate of the planet Mars."

As in year's past, this banquet includes awards and great door prizes. The banquet will be held Saturday, January 13, at 6 p.m. at the Yankee Grill and Roaster, 5300 24th Avenue NW, in Ballard.

RSVP by January 5 to Gerald West, 9109 27th NW, Seattle, WA 98117.
