Dark Skies Northwest Regional Meeting; IDA Director Talks to SAS

THE December SAS meeting will be held earlier than usual as part of the Dark Skies Northwest Regional meeting on December 2. Dave Crawford, executive director of the IDA, will give a talk for SAS members and the general public on "Light Pollution's Impact on Astronomy." The talk will be at the University of Washington's Physics-Astronomy Building, Room A102 at 7:30 p.m.

The Dark Skies Northwest regional meeting will be held from 9 a.m.4:30 p.m. on December 2 in Room A114. The cost of the meeting is free or a suggested donation of $10. The meeting will include educational workshops, lectures and displays. This will be a great opportunity to learn about controlling light pollution, to pass on lessons learned in fighting light pollution, to educate and be educated, and to promote quality commercial lighting products.

The speakers include Dave Crawford; Jack Sales, California Chapter The IDA; Del Armstrong, Softlighting Systems; Bill Hughes, chair of IESNA Roadway Lighting Obtrusive Light Subcommittee, Portland; Dr. Woody Sullivan, professor, UW.
